Depending on where the lights are mounted, the 3000K bulbs and the yellowish light they produce may be perfect. I like the definition yellow lights give compared to white lights. Some things stand out better under the yellow light. I would never have yellow as my primary lights such as headlights but for auxiliary lights I think the yellow would work great.

Street Wolf - Let us know how converting your Hellas works. I have thought about it for mine but have been afraid of melting the lights. A conversion kit to HID for my Hellas would be a lot cheaper than a set of Lightforce lights.
Will do.

Are the Hella 3000's not solid metal? I know my 4000's really have no plastic components to worry about melting.

The 3000s use a plastic housing. I haven't pulled them apart to see what the reflector is made of yet which is what I am concerned about melting.

I have one pair of Hella 550 retangular fog lights with the amber lens mounted on my bumper (my 03 did not have the fog light option istalled). I lived in Europe and got used to amber and prefer it for betterfog penetration and the lower a fog light the better. I also have a pair of Hella 500 offroad lights and a pair of Hella Rallye 4000 lights. I chose to mount them on my bull bar instead of the roof rack because I sometimes use my roofrack for building supplies and the lights would have been in the way.

Here is a shot taken on Sunday during the GREAT ATLANTA BLIZZARD OF 2009.

Consider using the 6000K HID's for a whiter light wikth hardly any blue for better results.

Well, as of last Friday, I run 3 Arco 35 watt bumper mounted spot lights and a 6oooK, 35 watt headlight conversions.

After seeing how much light my 35 watt HID headlights put out, especially on the hi beams, I have decided my Hellas are getting upgraded to 6000K 55 watt HIDs. Can't stand how yellow the Hellas look next to my headlights.

I see quite a few of you are considering changing your current setup. Any chance you will sell your "old" lights for a reasonable price?

Like I said in the first post, I am looking for 4 lights to go on the rack. Pref. 2 fog, 2 driving. Let me know... You can send me a PM since buying is not the toppic of this thread.

Thanks!

Mike, those are the 100 watt bulbs in my Hellas that look that yellow.

Fuego, I highly recommend the Lightforce lights. They are expensive but probably the brightest halogen lights you can buy and the color and light pattern can be changed by changing filters. They're made in Australia so you know they can handle some tough off-road. www.tufflights.com is where I ordered my Lightforce from.

They look great! That is way out of my range though, unfortunately... I can get a set of 4 used Hellas on eBay for the price of 1 of the Lightforce. Granted they may not be new or as good, but i will not be doing much night driving. It's more for when I get caught just after sunset on a trip to Baja. Just some extra light to point out those potholes... I'd rather save that money to get some sliders, a winch, lift, (I'll stop cause my wife is right behind me )

But again, any 2nd hands to offer, let me know!
