What is this leak?
Hi Everyone
I am looking at a 2001 disco 2. It seem to run great, body is in reasonable shape. It has 93k on it. Unfortunately the maintenance records are not available. I had it on ramps to check if it was equipped with a CDL, it was! But Then I discovered the leak in the pictures. What is it? At first I thought it was coolant... perhaps a bad head gasket. But it didn't smell like coolant, infact it didn't smell of anything. its oily and kinda grungy. I never did see exactly where it was coming from. I am thinking it might be transmission fluid, because the transmission lines are running up into the area where the fluid appears to be coming from. I would really appreciate any opinions on this, I don't want my first Land Rover experience to be a disaster.
Also the TC, ABS and decent control lights are on. Because of the leak and the lights I got the price down to 6k.
I really appreciate any assistance!

RE: What is this leak?
Tranny fluid is some where between red and brown with a very distinct small.
I agree with the last post, you really need to degresae then engine and power scrub it so you can see where it is leaking from. Make sure not to get the ECU wet. Also get a little of the fluid on a white piece of paper towel so yo can get a better idea of what it is.
