That would be your transmission temp. Stop driving, check trans fluid level, check for leaks, check for dirty contaminates in the fluid. When was the last time the trans fluid was flushed?

Heres a link to the owners manual as provided by LR: TOPIx - TOPIx

I take that back. You said it has waves so it might be the light indicating water in the fuel filter. See below for a complete listing of all the D2 warning lights. Had to do some research to find it...

Hot Transmission / Transfer Case Fluid (if this is what is illuminated) could be due to the electric fan for the air conditioner was not working -- extra heat from AC Condenser and the lack of extra cooling from the fan resulted is the transmission fluid being a little hot.

I would check to make sure Electric Fan is operational.
-- see if the fan blade will rotate with a screwdriver
-- or turn on the AC while the engine is on, the electric fan should always be on when AC is operational.

All fans good. Steady stream of dex3 ATF flowing. If anything, I have too much fluid. Could that cause a heating issue? Clean and clear fluid a no e brake problems

I don't think you could have too much ATF. Unless, you raised the front of the truck and forced it in there.

Any debris lodged in the grill area causing air flow restrictions or blockage across the trans cooler ?
I scooped up a bat one night. Batman didn't fight anymore crime that night.

How's it shifting and driving? Do you notice any difference in. Shift patterns?

Did you confirm the warning light? Your description was kinda vague. The transmission temp light is a red circular gear with an exclamation mark in it, no waves as you described. There is a orange light with tiny waves and a arch over it. Then there is a orange swirl light. Please verify the specific warning light here and let us know so we can best help you. Dnnt want to give wrong info so we need to make sure we are talking about the same warning light.
