Default what to look out for on a used discovery?

Hello all, I am going to look at a used 2003 discovery with 135K miles. I am unfamiliar with these vehicles so I need your help. What should I be on the lookout for?

They say the vacuum compartment needs replaced. Do they mean vac resevoir for power brakes ac and transfer case? is this a prob?

I also read something about an oil pump recall... It has the 4.6.

I really appreciate any and all info!!

Also im really sorry if this is in the wrong place, im not a forum noob i promise, just a land rover noob lol

Better yet, if you are not real familiar with a Disco, pay to have a good Rover mechanic to a pre-purchase inspection, it will be the best money you ever spent on it.
Also, plan on $1000 to replace the front drive shaft, if it hasn't been done yet, as well as a major service after you buy it.
What will you be using it for and how much are they asking for the one you are looking at?

There is a 1999 with 140K for sale in Seattle for $1,800.
I bought a 2001 with blown head gaskets for $2,000 in Denver with 97,000 miles on it.

4.6 engine is probably more of a liability than an asset.
Plus - Dayton - rust and crud.

I would get one in Texas or FL
It will be cheaper.
It will not be all rusted underneath.

get on a plane and go get one.

Comeone.

$5K. And, it will need about $2k right off the bat.

Dealers. They take your money.
And do god knows what with it.

Just for references i bought a 99 dII with head gasket issue for $200 otherwise in good condition! Make sure you do your research for 5k it should have some serious service records behind it.

They're not hard to find in TX at all. Though other motorists may have taken their toll, the only environmental concern there is usually the sun... YMMV and of course coastal areas are different.
