Default what to lube!!!

In order to save some money I'm trying to do some of my 60k service myself. What type of lube is used for the driveshaft and slipshafts and is there anything else that should be greased or lubed? I have a small squeak when I turn the wheel to the left, what type of lube should I use for that?

The best synthetic you can buy.
Has your front drive shaft been rebuilt yet, does it have 1 or 3 grease fitting, if one, you need to rebuild/replace the shaft, not lube it.

For drivelines and hub bearings (if you have a D1, you don't say) I use Castrol Pyroplex Blue. NGLI #2
It's formulated specifically dirty and wet conditions, something a lot of Land Rovers see.

The only grease points are on your front and rear driveshafts. If your front driveshaft does not have all 3 u-joints with grease fitting just replace them with ones that do or buy a Tom Woods driveshaft for $350 shipped. I finally ended up ordering a tom woods after having a u-joint replaced a couple years ago and then it got clogged so I finally gave up trying to unclog it. If your tie rod end has been replaced you may have grease fittings there too not on the OEM tie rod end though.

Greases are like motor oils everyone (who bothers that is) has their favorites and their own regiment. You should grease your u-joints at minimum every oil change more often if you off road or drive in dirty or wet conditions. If you follow a strict regiment any type 2 lithium or synthetic grease will do. If you are lazy stick with the best synthetic you can find. I'm using green grease at the moment but I've heard it scoffed at by "those who know better than me".

I never thought about it, but can't say I'm surprised there's a forum dedicated to oil.
