I dont think it is actually overheating, I really think that the trans temp sensor was toasted when you guys had to do your deep water rescues, it got water inside the connector or something, I just looked at AB's site and I cant find one, but I know that sell them.

what do you mean by "You People" [8D]...sorry movie line popped into my head and I couldn't resist going there.

Its not meant towards everyone...just those retired paper pushers that spent more time behind a desk than under a hood trying to tell us to "take it and pay someone else to do the work for us". we just wanted to do a brainstorming session and get ideas...not get the "company line" from a retired land rover service manager.

Anyway...I am done with ranting...BACK on track...

Anyone with any IDEAS on things to check etc...your input would be GREATLY APPRECIATED...if your going to say take it somewhere and have someone else look at it STFU and go post somewhere else!

I think SJ was just busting you *****.

I dont mean to keep beating a dead horse...but the trans temp sensor is a known problem on DII's. Not a common problem, but it can be one.
I do not know how to check it to see if it is good or not, I think that I would start by using electrical parts cleaner and cleaning the connection, if that doesnt work then just take it to a shop already.

smileys really help when "busting ones *****" it makes the difference between getting a [:@]reply and getting a [8D]reply

kind of like
if that doesnt work then just take it to a shop already.

Thanks everyone who has posted useful information to try and help us diagnose the problem. We're fairly convinced and agree with the majority of you that it is indeed probably the temp sensor so that will be changed a soon as possible. Guess we'll see what happens.

Disco Mike, if you can't respect my simple request that I would prefer not to have everyone telling me to take it to a shop, or to the dealer. Then by all means, feel free to just not reply to any of my posts from here on out.
