Default What is this plastic pipe, and why is it junk ?

This is a plastic pipe, that looks like a 3/4" wire loom. It does have some heat sheilding, but it broke apart when I moved it. It was very brittle, and weak design. It's on the passenger side, 03 Disco.
What is it for, and can I replace it with heater hose or pipe ??
Thx...

Also did the wires and plugs today. What a pita.. about 4 hours working slow. But runs great, and no codes..

That's the pipe to your SAI. You'll need it otherwise it'll start throwing codes at you left & right. I'm not sure if you can use a heater hose as a replacement. Hopefully someone else will chime in on that one.

Just did the plugs on my '03 also. What a bi**h that was. Eh, runs batter tho

Well, I guess I was beat down from the plugs and wires, and didn't have the energy to look. Yeah, obviously the sai. I'll find a pipe or something. Looks like they were saving money. Rover should have used flexible pipe in the back. Then maybe we could change the wires ! Thanks

Hah having a flexible pipe in the back would have made life too easy.
British engineers spent too much money on the metal pipe behind the engine, so they improvised by putting the cheap rubber one on the pump lol.
