What Rover I have?
Hello everyone, this is my first time posting so please forgive my lack of knowledge on rovers.
I have just bought a 97 Discovery last week, it only had 110thousand miles, needs minor matance but i payed only 2500 (was able to talk the guy from 4 grand)
Well the question is im trying to find the trim it is, i notice on sites it says like SD or SD7 or SE or SE7... My manual doesnt help at all, i looked around the rover and it doesnt have any markings. Is there any where else I can look. I can also provide a vin number.
My second question is if its a 97 it would be a series 1 version with a 3.9liter engine, but when I get under the hood it says 4.0L
Please help.
Thanks

Also Im trying to find out how hard is it to replace the auto diming mirror that is installed in my vehicle?
It has tint on the bottom right of it and its pretty annoying.
Also where is a good place to buy Rover parts... I mean ill get the mantiance stuff around here but for parts i prefer to go to place that deals directly with land rover parts

Ok I do have a Sun Roof, and my rear seats do come down, so that makes it an SE7?
I've been buying parts from the local L/R dealer. Most parts are cheaper than from Atlantic Brittish cause they give me dealer pricing. If you have a dealer near you, see if they will give you dealer pricing. If not, tell them you restore Rovers and other older SUV's. Let them know you will be paying Tax, however. Often they will just run your purchases under a "generic" wholesale account. The first couple times you go to pick-up your parts, wear your work clothes. Talk to the parts guys for a while, get to know them, let them get to know you as well.
Generally, depending on the part, I try Autozone first. For example, I needed a fan clutch. Autozone had one listed. I figured it would be cheaper than Land Rover. It was, by quite a large margin, even cheaper than A/B. Other items, like specificRover items that nobody has, they have been giving me great pricing.
I recently needed brake parts.Their brake prices weren't too bad, but rotors were really expensive. There's an examplewhere it was cheaper, quite a bit cheaper,to buy from Atlantic Brittish. Plus, they sell the brake hardware packagedtogether as well. Sooo, I guess what I'm saying, is you need to check around between a few sources to get the best deals/quality.
