What should be my first mod?
I recently purchased a 1999 Disco II and am thinking about the many mods I'll do over the next couple of years. First, of course, I'll need to get a bit of maintenance out of the way to bring the truck up to standard. Fortunately, that isn't much as the previous owner replaced the heads at 90k and had it tuned up pre-sale. All I think I need to do is replace a couple of door lock actuators (on the way) and everything will be in tip-top shape.
The truck already has a grille guard which has mounting points for two off-road lights, so getting those lights is one thing I'm considering.
I also am thinking about a 2" lift from either OME or TerraFirma, then some bigger tires.
I'm also a little bit scared by tales I've heard about the front drive shaft. This has me thinking about replacing it with one of Great Basin Rovers' custom versions.
What would you guys do first to a stock rig that will be used mostly for road trips to/from the hunting grounds then an hour or two of moderate off-roading?

If I ever bought a DII (which I'd never do) for moderate off-roading:
- Rebuild front propshaft
- CDL mechanism
- Front and rear recovery points and recovery gear
- Winch
- Good slightly oversize off-road tires
- Other things as I find I really need them.
If i could do it all over again ..this is the first thing i would buy...

This is probably the "easiest," but NOT the cheapest --> Lucky8 Llc. - Take the road less traveled...
You can get the DI linkage and modify it, or you can also try and find linkage out of an '04 (probably hardest to find)

Is this front propshaft thing you guys talk about cause vibration when accelerating when it goes bad?
I just purchased my DII a few days ago and it's got some annoying vibration whenever I'm accelerating, seems to follow road speed, and goes away when I let off the throttle. Feels like something in the drivetrain.
