I'll throw my 2 cents in to this. I prefer 16" wheels as the best all around choice for these vehicles. 18" look pretty, to some people, but offer a rougher ride because of the reduced side wall. The larger the rin, the less rubber in the sidewall to flex and absorb road bumps. Most people forget that the tire sidewalls are a huge part of the suspension. The sidewalls handle the little bumps that the suspension won't flex on. I, personally, wouldn't even consider a 22" rim unless I was putting it on a vehicle with about 40" tires. That being said, those are some nice looking rims you have, lrd2. In a smaller size they would be great.

I like the look of the 18's but run 16's, I have a D1 so I do not have many options anyways. I used to always have a rule for off roading when it came to rims, the rime should be atmaximum 50% of the overall tire diameter. That means if you have 15" rims your tire should be bigger than a 30". Now I currently am not running that rule but it is a good gauge in my opinion.

There are a lot more options out there for the D1 rim than you might think. I was reading another forum that someone posted a link for 22s for the D1 or RR classic. If I can find it again I'll post the link.

Wow, I have look in a couple of places and really could not find much. I have found custom and so forth but not mainstream maufacturers. I have also found some spacers that would change the bolt pattern but I do not want to do that. If you find the link pass it along, Thanks!

I have an 03 Disco with standard stock 16 inch rims and have thought about getting an extra set of rims, one for mostly hiway and one set for offroad. Are the 16 inch Disco rims year specific or was there a model change after 99 or 02?

Any rims from a D2 will fit any other D2. D1s use an entirely different bolt pattern,

The D1 use a 5 on 6.5 bolt pattern because both axles are full floating axles. The D2 use 5 on 120mm (I believe). The D2 bolt pattern is smaller than a D1.
