What Is Still Original On Your D2?
I haven't changed much on mine, wondered if that's normal.

Original rear drive shaft. Front currently on bench.
Orig. fuel sys, except inj. O-rings, plenum gasket.

I'm guessing I'm bad...

Fuel system problems are rare.
recovery tank - you are due, I would get a spare if I were you.
Stereos rarely go out.
Trans will last 400k
Factory gearbox fluids are full synthetic - last a lifetime. Trans fluid shoudl be changed with Castrol Transyd - twice - one week between changes minimuum.
Body parts are alum(fenders anyway), they don't wear out.
Going to get a recovery tank, and not a cheap aftermarket either. Was thinking of doing the in line t-stat mod so I can have a choice of GM t-stats. I wonder if there is room for an inline filler neck so I could have a greater choice of cap poundages also.
BMW caps are the same and they have a variety of pressure ratings, no real need to go different though. Higher pressures would increase the likelihood of a blown hg.
I have great results with just the 180F OEM LR or Britpart Black 180F Thermostat, HD Fan Clutch, and Dorman 620-112 fan blade. Heck my 04 runs so cool I get a P0126 fault code for it not getting up to operating temps fast enough lol.
I am a huge fan of keeping it OEM.
My rules of thumb are:
exterior parts must be OEM, they can be OEM from different years but, they must be OEM
interior parts must be OEM, they can be OEM from different years but, they must be OEM. I can use non OEM parts "IF" they remain hidden (i.e. Grom iPhone adapter)
Mechanical parts can be OEM or aftermarket. OEM is the priority unless there is a performance gain from non OEM or if there is an equivalent brand at a lower price (i.e. BritPart)
With all that said...I believe (as I am the 4th owner) 90% of my truck is original equipment. The stuff I have changed and the cost is listed below:
Vehicle Purchase $3,600.00
Tabs/Tax $460.65
