Default What are these cracked plastic molding pieces called?

So I was installing a new pollen filter on the D2 today and noticed cracks in the plastic piece that holds the pollen filter and in the molding piece at the bottom of the windshield:

I'd be grateful for information like:

1. What are these parts called?

2. Part numbers?

3. How difficult a job is it to remove them and install new ones? What is involved?

4. Are removal and installation procedures in the RAVE?

5. Any other information or insight you may have.

This is the part

Good luck finding one that is not busted up and brittle.
No new ones avail unless some old stock somewhere hidden away or repro fiberglass ones pop up.

I take it these cracks are pretty common? Do people just live with them? Or are there other ways to address them?

They're pretty common as the plastic ages unfortunately. Only way to address is to replace as the cracks in the center will dump water right into the fresh air intake if you don't. Parts is a bit expensive but the install is pretty easy. You'll need to undo your hood to slide it forward so you can get space to do the swap. Replace the rubber end pieces on both sides and the round plastic grommets as well while you're in there.

Atlantic British has a great video (above) on replacing the center air intake moulding. I did mine last weekend as I had to seal around the air intake to address (?) some water coming in through the fan area. Right now, the challenge is finding a replacement part.

They have had it on back order sonce july, and jlr has just pushed the date forward all the time.
JLR classic parts had a 100pcs batch some time over a month ago that sold out immediately and they are not going to be making a new batch anytime soon as their order quantities have been increased from 100pc significantly by the manufacturer.

I've asked around a lot in europe and haven't been able to locate new stock at all.

Much appreciated!

Is it worth putting sealant in the cracks in the meantime while waiting for a new part?
