Default What is this thing? After breaking this nipple, I got an engine light code: P1414

A few hundred miles after, an engine light went on and the codes are: P1414, P1417, P1668...

Could it be because of this?

Only other thing I did was changed the power steering pump last week...

Yes. That’s the vac canister for the SAI valves. Until you repair or replace those P14XX codes will return. I don’t know about the other one.

It's a vacuum capsule, but I've never seen that one before. Do you have rear air suspension?

It is likely creating a vacuum leak.

p1414 is a secondary air system leak fault

You need to fix that broken air line into the vacuum canister as @Red5 stated.

i actually found one at the junkyard but there's a bit of fluid/oil in it... Not sure if that's defective...

I don't know about the internals of the vacuum reservoir but I believe there shouldn't be any fluid in there. Well... I should say mine doesn't have fluid in it.

From the RAVE manual...
"A vacuum reservoir is included in the vacuum supply line between the intake manifold and the SAI vacuum solenoid valve. The vacuum reservoir contains a one-way valve, to stop depression leaking back towards the intake manifold side. The reservoir holds a constant vacuum so that the SAI control valves open instantaneously as soon as the SAI solenoid valve is energised.

… It is important to ensure the reservoir is fitted in the correct orientation, and the correct vacuum hoses are attached to their corresponding ports."

I've not seen every engine configuration but aren't most vacuum canisters located over by the SAI pump on the passenger side near the firewall?
