Default What think? New Bushing?

Lucked out and got a 2000 Disco 2 for free. 70K miles on it.

It was purchased by a friend of mine in 2000. He never really drove it much and it has never been off road. Probably never been off pavement. Its been garaged since day one. Only driven maybe 10k in the last 8 years.

I am replacing the front drive shaft, trac bar drag link and stabilizer bar, springs and shocks. Since all of this is gonna be torn down and replaced was wondering if I should replace the bushings. These ones are now 15 years old. But based upon the minimal use of the vehicle and it being garaged for 99 percent of its life not sure if its needed.

Any thoughts?

congratulations. I would have a good look around, before I just go to swapping stuff out. check out the ball joints, while the front is apart. radius arm bushings are going to be hard to determine their worth, by looking. easier on a drive. you can get on the side of the truck and rock it "roll over style". if you are hearing a clunky sound, your watts bushings maybe due.

Default Friend?

Anybody know where I can find a friend like this? You know, the kind of friend that gives you cars? :P Congrats, hope it is a real score for you!

Lol. Yeah. He decided he needed to replace the discovery that he never drove with a new Q5 that he probably won't drive. Didn't want to deal with the trade in and just wanted it out of his garage so he could fit the Q5 in there.

With exception of 2 minor dings and some swirl marks in the paint (black) it is in showroom condition.

But the headliner is starting to sag. Cruise control turns on but doesn't work. Probably need to replace vacuum lines. It needs the items I listed above replaced. Already have the parts. Just need to find he time.

Not a big fan of the chrome rims but I'm not knocking a free car.
