Default What is this unattached loose part found under the hood?

I've got the hood up, I'm looking down between the engine and the coolant reservoir, and I see this cigarette pack sized, black plastic box thing, attached to nothing, sitting next to an 02 sensor, resting on an exhaust tube and the frame...

I have no idea what it is... what it does... what it fell off of... or what's going to self destruct because it's missing something...

take a look at the pics I uploaded..

Can anyone help me identify this mystery black box?

Thanks.....

What ever it is you prolly don't need it. Doesn't look like any rover part I've seen. I have a different engine in mine tho... But it still doesn't look like anything of value or like anything I know of and I'm a mechanic. Maybe it's a foofoo valve off a harley!

So much for all the wise cracks, probably what you as a 1st. time poster didn't need to hear. I have never seen that before, was it hooked to anything or held by any bracket?

no worries about the wisecracks... I've got a sense of humor...

It was attached to absolutely nothing like it was waiting for the next bump to come along and make it fall away..

Default Could be...

A kanooder valve which was the upgrade for the flusher valve. It is used to change the turn signal fluid.

Are you sure. I was under the impression that the kanooder valve was for the high beams.

Default OBD 1 Code Display Box

How the Hell that ended up in your engine bay is and probably always will remain a mystery, but that my friend looks like the fault code display unit for OBDI... not exactly like it but very similar....

Sell that thing in the classified section under 'Rare, prototype LUCAS electrical issue solver -"

OR maybe it is an erratic idle eliminator. The "EIE" modulator is North of the Fetzer Valve.... get yourself some ball bearings, some 40 weight oil, gauze and 5 gallons of Prestone anti-freeze... NO...better make that Quaker State...

Problem solved, You're welcome.
