im in an argument with my wife about the dash kits in my bmw and my land rover she says that the one in the bmw is real and that the one in the land rover is fake i believe that there all fake and there all plastic does any one actually know what there made of are they real wood or all plastic.

 

I thought wood was made of plastic...

I know 7 series use real wood, I think it's an option for 5

with land rovers:

I am pretty sure they use real wood in their current line (range rover, sport, LR3)

not sure about before then though

 

i have an 05 330i and an 02 disco i am pretty sure they are plastic not real wood but my wife says that all bmw and mercedes are real wood

I could be wrong but the wood trim in my 97 LSE looks plastic. It might be the protective finish Spike mentioned giving the appearance. I personally don't like wood trim but it doesn't bother me enough to spend the money to get rid of it, yet.

 

next time i'm at the junkyard i'll grab a piece and snap it in half to show what it is
