Default What are your essential roadtrip tools?

If you could only pack a roll bag this size in your Rover at all times, what tools would you put in it?

My list, subject to change; I'm interested to hear your guys' thoughts:
  • channel locks
  • two battery post shims
  • 1/4 inch ratchet, 8mm, 9mm and 10mm sockets, and 1/4 inch extensions
  • 8mm, 10mm, 13mm and 15mm combination wrenches
  • 27mm lug nut wrench
  • fan clutch removal tools
  • zip ties

More roll bags

But seriously
  • 3/8 drive ratchet and sockets with a 1/4 to 3/8 drive adapter
  • Screwdriver handle that fits the 1/4 drive
  • 3/8 to 1/2 inch adaptor
  • Metric allen keys
  • The common torx sockets there are 3 I think
  • Phillips and blade screwdriver
  • 32+ mm adjustable rather than fan clutch tools - it will take the fan off too
  • Wrenches as per your post
  • Zip ties
  • Duck tape and Seals all.
Battery shims are not something I would consider - properly fitted cable ends avoid that requirement
Channel locks are not something I would carry in a kit that small.

The metric combo wrenches came in handy the one time I had the nut on the drivers side wiper come loose in a downpour...

Otherwise on the road I've only ever needed the bottle jack and the lug nut wrench.

BTW, Check you bottle jack. I Just had two of them fail. You'll want to know that it works before you leave.

Add some electrical tape, and a hose splice kit, maybe some duct tape.

I don't think that bag is enough to be honest. I like your add on list and would add a breaker bar, oil, coolant, belt, light bulbs, flash light, and AAA membership

Great suggestions, keep them coming.

Can’t believe I wrote “Essentionals” in the title. Haha.

For the record, it’s by no means intended to be an all-inclusive tool and supply kit, just a minimalist, most commonly used tools kit that, as a challenge, would fit in a single small roll. Believe me, I both ride daily and roadtrip with oil, coolant, a 3/8” impact gun with a full box of heavy duty sockets 10mm-38mm, grabber tools, The Right Stuff RTV, and a myriad of tools. Both side bins in my cargo hold are full of tools.

I forgot about vise grips and tape, great additions.
