what was your first vehicle?

RE: what was your first vehicle?
First car was a 1956 Oldsmobile(88?) that my aging Grandmother gave me in 1966 when she bought a new Plymouth Fury. She had put only 20,000 miles on this Oldsmobile in 10 years. I used this massive Green Oldsmobile as my Nebraska hunting car going after pheasants, ducks, grouse, quail. It was a real tank that I often got stuck taking it places it wasn't supposed to go. First one I bought was a used 1967 Camaro that screamed. Then got an orange1969 GTO Judge that I got more tickets with than I want to admit. It later got totaled in a hit and run by some huge truck. I cried over that one. First 4x4 was a 1970 Chevy Blazer that was terrible truck that broke down constantly. Oh do I still miss my 1969 GTO!!

Im thinking maybe Tech school, im not in college yet. i know i could get tech school free, being a direct descendant native American, but that's totally against everything i believe in, (im a hardcore libertarian). actually owning this truck and seeing how much i enjoy tinkering with it, has made me think about something automotive. still thinking something environmental, or architecture.
edit: i could afford a pretty nice Ferrari with the college tuition grandma and grandpa left behind for me

People that have money are great people ,,,people that think they have money
are snob's. I know both types.

RE: what was your first vehicle?
My first ride on 4 wheels was a 1989 Dodge Daytona, 2.5 4 cylinder with a 3 speed automatic; had 100 HP and 140 lb-ft of torque. I bought the car used with 10k miles on it back in 1994 for $5k. Wound up giving it to my friend 75K miles later (2002). All my freinds bet that the car would die on me considering that it went to BeaverRun, VIR and Pocono numerous times with a full load: 3 rail trailer with 2 sport bikes along with rider gear and ancillary equipment.
That Dodge worked HARD! Never let me down. Maintenance was super easy and cheap.

1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55. I bought it from my favorite high school teacher upon graduation in 1974. I drove it until the engine gave me a lot of trouble and gas reached the unbelievable price of .90/gallon!
The only other off road vehicle I owned was a 1986 Isuzu Trooper turbo diesel which I sold in 1999 when the Gulf war cause the price of diesel to skyrocket to $1.48/gallon.
My Toyota looked something like this which I always thought it was a Land Rover rip off.

RE: what was your first vehicle?
I started with a red ford escort, '89 I believe it was... flipped it and got a **** brown camry that was great until it would only start 8 out of 10 times... Upgraded to a '95 Jeep Cherokee Sport and drove it until everything was busted but the engine, that inline 6 will work no matter what... finally I got my rover and hopefully it will out-last me.

1989 Red Ford Escort Station wagon...nicknamed Audrey or "the Mini Wagon" with lord knows how many miles.
I stickered the hell out of it and would paint on the windows during football Fridays. (Before anyone asks, no, I wasn't a cheerleader...I was a band geek! GO TROMBONES!)
GREAT car actually...except the fact that it shut off if I turned left too fast
Ahh...sigh. I miss Audrey.
Edited to add: My dad sold it when I went to college for $900 to a single dad with three kids...it ran for another 5 years for the guy that bought it. Yay Audrey!

Here is the impressive list I got in only 8 years of driving:
- 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, which gave out after 1 week
- 1986 Jeep Cherokee, I really loved that truck... but too much mileage gave out after 6 months
- 1991 Honda Civic, I exchanged to my uncle for his Honda Accord. He was still driving it a couple of years ago
- 1986 Honda Accord, smelt gas, underpowered.... but the handbrake was working hahahaha
- 1998 Nissan Altima, made 100k with it, has 280k on the clock, never gave out or let me down... now for sale
- 1998Land Rover Discovery,purchased for 1000$.Put 1000$ in repairs.... worked fine until 3:00PM today...
6 cars in8 years... not that bad hahaha. And I'm not counting those Idrovein demo derbies... hahahaha
