There are three differentials on our discos. The CDL locks the center differential. Traditional lockers lock the differentials on each axle.

Center locking differential (transfer case/box) locks your front and rear driveshafts together so they turn at the same rate, splitting power 50/50. Locking axle differentials lock the left and right axle half-shafts together so they both turn at the same rate, splitting power 50/50.

Essentially the only difference is the location of the locker, they all do the same thing. Don't get axle diff lockers unless you have a center diff lock.

A big advantage cause with dif lockers, when engaged you have 25% of your engines torques to each wheel for all the traction your tires can handle.

If you hot dog it alot in the mud, you will blow your spider gear real quick so diff locks are still a good idea when playing in the mud.

Are Diff Lockers available for the DII axles and how do you engage them? Sounds like you can then use both Diff Lockers and CDL at the same time and have one very nice off road machine. What would be the cost associated with the diff lockers and is the install very difficult with specific shiming required?
