Hey all! Today is the first real nice day here in NY this year.

I just got my 01 Disco a couple months ago with low miles. Preparing for the service soon. Getting all my parts together.

But since it is nice out, I'm able to notice some dripping from underneath.

What is dripping here?

I am assuming photos 1 and 3 are the drain pan for the transmission? But what is the cleaner looking piece foward the front of the car? That is where I am also seeing some drip from the bolts

 

possibly your crankshaft oil seal behind the harmonic balancer / flywheel pulley. notice the drip marks on the front crossmember. any leaks from the engine will be blown backwards onto the bell housing and transmission as you drive.

 

Good old white shepherd stop leak should take care of that

 

Check your valve cover gaskets.

 

What is the shiner looking silver piece? I take it the darker one is my transmission pan?

Why would my valve cover gaskets result in a drip from the transmission oil drain plug?

 

That looks like engine oil. Did you do the PCV mod yet? That may take care of 90% of it. If it still leaks, it is probably the crucifix seal, the rear seal almost never leaks and the crucifix seal does. Good news is you can change it easily by dropping the pan. Check the rave.

the "shinier silver looking piece" (with the large bolt sticking down out of it) is the oil pan of the engine. the darker one (with the allen-headed bolt in it) is your transmission.
if the valve cover gaskets are leaking, oil will run down from the top of the engine all the way to the bottom. because gravity.
