Default whats a low mileage 4.0L worth?

so what does everything think the valve of a relativity low mileage (86,000) 4.0L out of a DII is?

was just curious because I see people asking @ $2k for them around here..that would go a long ways towards a OM617 conversion..but I doubt people are paying that much.

Yeah - good question. It seems engines being good money - as much as a running truck. Seems like a good idea just to rebuild and have a zero mile engine with the latest sealing goodies.


Even at 86k a used engine is a risk. It could need head gaskets very soon!

well some people just want to drop in a used engine instead of rebuilding. Rebuilding will take A LOT more time and some special tools. If you mess up , you'll be doing it all over again and buying all new gaskets/seals so I can see why there's a market for used engines.

I would sooner pay that much for a good low milage 4.6.....4.0 is less desired and there are so many of them.....

True - but how do you tell if a 4.0 is "good". That, is the problem!

For $500, I may take a chance.
