I would say that is a belt too tight, or your p/s pump or maybe even your alt. Usually that "whine" is caused by something like that.

I would bet the whine is the ACE pump. It sounds just like a supercharger now that you mention it. Mine is usually loud enough to drown out any ticking.. lol

YouTube - Disco 2 Rover 4.0

There, just got home. It actually isn't this loud, but I guess the mic really picks everything up.

Thanks, I love this truck even though I've spent a lot of time under it covered in grease. It runs great. You would never know it's got 123k on the clock. I think all the highway miles really are good for these things. It's still clean as a whistle inside.

Is your idle running fast or is it just the mic? I know when I heard mine I tape I was like "WHOA!". Surely doesn't sound that loud in person!

It was a little high because the AC compressor was on, you can hear the clutch click near the end. I went in and kicked it on econ but didn't tape it again. It idles around 750. Yeah, the video doesn't really seem like an accurate example huh? lol

Default Disco music

I thought I would add my Disco music. Sounds like this only when warm and I have heard it come and go. I have the top end torn down right now and I wasnt all that pleased with how the insides look. We have put about 25k miles on it since we got it.
