Default wheel seizing up

Here's the situation; I went wheeling a bit today and I had to go down a very slippery muddy hill. One wheel locked when I braked while I was going down, which is normal since my ABS light is on. But what is not normal is that when I released the brakes the wheel didn't start to spin, it was like it was seized. I gave a slight push on the throttle, heard a light clunk and the wheel unseized. I was steering left when it happened.

What can cause such thing? From my experience, I don't think it's the CV joint. I don't feel anything in the steering wheel when turning corners and there are no particular noises. If it was related to the diff it wouldn't matter if I'm steering or not. Can it be brake related?

I noticed that the tire seems underinflated, it probably leaks very slowly. Can it cause damage to the drivetrain if the truck is driven with an underinflated tire?

My truck is a 1998 disco with 156k kilometers, and all maintenance is up to date.

Sounds like a sticky brake caliper.
Probably happens all the time but you never notice because you are not on slippery roads.

Thanks for the answer. I really hope you are right since it is a really easy fix. I already rebuilt the rear calipers so the front shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't take it for granted, I would pull the wheel and brake down and reinspect them.
As for the low tire, that can throw the truck into a fit, depending on how much lower and if the 3 amigos are on or not.

It's the loose nut behind the wheel causing the problem.

He's got a D1 Mike, no 3 amigos.

loose nut behind the wheel? you mean the steering wheel, right? (or is it in front of the wheel I can never remember)

I am only kidding!

I have a very few free time. It will have to wait until next weekend. I'll check for excessive brake wear.

AK, I'm not sure about which nut you're talking about.
