Wheel size?

Wheel size?
I'm a newbie, here, so try not to give me too hard a time. I've tried searching for my answer, but can't find it.
I have a '99 Disco 2 that has stock 18" wheels. If I want to downsize to 16", what lug pattern or back spacing do I need to look for. I don't want stock 16" rims, but thinking black rims. I want to have more tire options, preferably a taller tire with a more aggressive tread pattern. Can you help me?

Thanks guys! That's what I was looking for. Mike, I'd like to go with a more aftermarket look. Not really a fan of the disco wheels. I would like to find some black wheels to try out. My D2 is black, but if I paint it, I'd like to go with silver and have the black rims with it.
So, it sounds like a 16x8 is what I'm looking for with a lug spacing of 5x120mm? I appreciate the info.

BMW X5 rims also fit.
Here is a lug pattern web site.

I searched for aftermarket wheels for awhile also... but was glad to find a set of DII 16" stock wheels for $20 per wheel and painted them myself. IMO the stock wheels look better than any aftermarket stuff available. As DiscoMike mentioned, there was also the question of them being lighter, but I can't verify if they are or not.

$20 does sound a lot more appealing. Do you have any pictures? How does the paint hold up? I've never tackled anything like this before, so I really don't have a clue about cleaning/painting wheels. I guess you use a spray can pe paint from the auto parts store... Some kind of rustoleum or heavy duty paint? Lighter is a good thing... I won't be doing any off-roading to the extreme that would cause any harm to the wheels. Thanks for the info. Would I find the 16" wheels on places like Craigslist, eBay, etc.?
Also, to keep the speedo accurate, what size tires would I be looking at for a 16" wheel. I know it depends on manufacturer, but I'd probably go with a more aggressive looking tire if I switch to the 16" rims. Currently, I'm running Dunlops 255/55-18. Would I go up to something like a 255/70-16? Again, sorry for all the questions, but I'm still learning.
