When our Discos are antiques...then what???
I'm hoping to keep mine around for as long as I possibly can. It's a great solid vehicle, and built like a tank. I am hoping to keep it around for my kids to be able to learn to drive someday.... I don't even have kids yet!
i agree, the plan is to keep the disco for fun (unless i bank roll and get a defender 110 instead). thats when it will get REAL expense (lockers, etc.)
a daily driver is a whole 'nother story...it certainly wont be my daily driver a decade from now!
a lot changes in a decade...a decade ago i was driving a green 1974 mercedes 280 SEL.

Let see you have a 96 Classic Discovery (White) and you are looking at getting a VW Jetta TDI??????

My next one will be a 1972 Series III, I will still have my DI but I really want a Series III, there is a 1970 for sale locally that I drive past almost everyday while doing my route...$7500.
Spike is it an 88 or a 109? gas or diesel? i nearly bough a 1988 88" diesel RHD. I had talked the guy down to $3700 but it needed some engine work it wasnt running smooth and i don't know the first thing about diesel engines or even a mechanic.
It is gas, it is a 88", it is from Puerto Rico and is LHD, it has new tires, a hard top with roof rack, I will take the camera with me tomorrow and if I see ti I will take a pic or 2.
Diesels are easy, fuel and air is all you need.
If it wont run you need fuel, if it runs poor you need to look into fuel, if your MPG sucks, look into the air filter, if it wont start, crank it longer...diesels are easy.

yeah that is how easy i though it was.. but the guy started giving me BS once i talked him down that low. he was like " I have someone else coming to look at it they are going to give me more money" I said ok well they are coming today to look at it I was going to buy it from you today so you have till tomorrow morning to call me, he didnt call me so i went and bought my disco at 8 am. he called me at 6 pm that night asking if i was still interested i called him and said too late i told you i was buying a land rover this weekend. i think he still has it i have seen it on ebay he is trying to get $10,000 for it. body was in good shape, good paint and the interior was all redone but it needed that engine work and the window trim needed to be replaced because the windows wouldnt slide easily the rubber was rotted.
