Where do these vacuum lines go?
Need a part number so I can find out how to repair / replace these lines that have somehow melted down. Found them when I removed the heads to do gaskets.
What do these lines go to; their purpose?
thanks
doc
Those are not vacuum lines, vent tubes for trans and transfercase.
EDIT: Didn't see first picture...that tube runs from the SAI air pump, should be connected to the tube that runs across firewall... l believe.

vent to where? What do they actually do? Is there a part number for replacing them, or a “fix”.
thanks

They are vent tubes as stated above. They run down to the transmission and transfer case. The tubes commonly melt being so close to the engine. There are also vents for each axle as well but not near the areas you pictured. Sorry I don’t have part numbers but folks usually reroute them away from the engine.
The vent lines vent to the atmosphere.
So long as they aren't melted completely shut, they are fine as is.
If they are melted completely shut, just cut them off right behind where they are melted and call it a day.

For the breather tubings you can do the following fix. Parts are available for a few Dollar at the local hardware store:

The large black one on a non SAI equipped D2 = goes to the emission box mounted to the frame directly behind the transfer case. From there it then connects to the fuel tank. The smaller ones = Trans/TC vent lines.
would either of these lines being blocked or melted out prevent the D2 from shifting from H / L 4x4?
Does the shifter move smoothly in all directions? You probably need to soak the shifter linkage with pb blaster from underneath and work it back and forth. Lots of threads on this forum about this issue.
