Default Where and how to get a new engine?

So the Rover gods have not been smiling on me lately and I need a new engine. I am not sure the best place to look for a new engine (I'm in the states). Also, I know selecting the right engine depends on my VIN but I'm not sure how. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Turner Engineering in the UK. They will ship a short or long block to the states. 4.0 or 4.6 liter, depending on your truck. I highly recommend them.

Look on Craigslist for some fool that tore out his tranny. Give Him 500. You can do that about 14 times for what it will cost you from turner

A used engine puts you back at square one, imho. I'd constantly worry when that engine would fail. Going with a long block from a reputable builder gives you piece of mind that you can drive the truck for many miles to come. I personally love having a motor with no tick, no leaks, no oil usage, and more power to boot. Buy once, cry once.

I was told four times I needed a new engine and only the fourth time were they correct.

Tell us what leads you to this conclusion if you are interested in some other opinions. Also it would be helpful to know the details of your truck, year, miles, maintenance history, location, etc.

I went the route of installing a rebuilt 4.6 from a P38 Range Rover and am happy with that choice so far.

For used engine the P38 is your best option, but if you can swing a Turner 4.6 tophatted Long block with the Kent H180 cams and gas flowed cylinder heads that is the Rover V8 gold standard.

Or, you could get an LS 4.8 cheap, as they are a dine a dozen, and have Lucky 8 or Trailhead in Ohio put it in for you and retain the factory ecu’s and traction control.

Are these readily available from Turner? Do you just have to call? I thought they used to be on the website, but I haven’t seen them there for probably a year. Only the short block.

Yes, they'll ship it off quick. They are very professional, and I put my short block in 6 years ago, and they are still responsive to emails.

I really regret not doing the long block, but you live and you learn.

Also, definitely call just keep in mind the time difference. I was pretty apprehensive at first, but they shipped it and it arrived in just a few days as professional as heck. As long as you can get DHL you should be fine.
