Default whine...whistle...

i hear a high pitch whistle noise coming out of my 03 disco se. it sounds to be coming from somewhere in the engine. i thought it was maybe my heat but when I shut that off I still hear it. If I am at a light and I put my truck in neutral and rev it up you can hear it easily then. It is not real loud at all. It almost sounds like a vaccume line or something. Any ideas? Thanks!

Maybe someone installed a supercharger while you weren't looking!

A gear whine and a vaccum whistle are two different noises - my '03 hasa bit of a whine I like.

Is it new? Has it always been there? Did it start after a car wash/oil change?

Are you still in warranty, if so I would take it in. If not, you are going to need to spend a little time under the hood listening. Try a narrow down the area where the sound is coming from and get back to us.

Probably your secondary air injection. If it's coming from the area close to the passenger side firewall, then that's probably it.

I just ran my truck up to my mechanic and it turns out it is just some noise coming from my alternator and he said it is no big deal at all...so thats awesome!
