Ford...but it is a Buick 215: Rover V8 engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

edit: Ford owned the company in 2004 before selling to Tata Motors...that is what I thought you were looking for when you wrote "bmw"...

Land Rover, and it's still the 1960's GM V-8 that GM got rid of after a couple of years, then Rover bought the rights and used it for 30+ years.

Nobody else made anything of Land Rover's until 2005, then they started using Ford V-6's and Jaguar V-8's.
Just because somebody else owned them does not mean they used any parts of theirs.

Agreed..that is why I wrote Buick 215 in my original post...it was a vague question to begin with...sure, the name says "Land Rover" on the badge, but the basic "engine" of any Discovery until 2004 is a Buick 215...

I just realized I'm preaching to the choir with you spike

All of the Discos that are labeled as "Discovery" and not LR3 or LR4, sold in the US, have the Rover V8. All of the Ranger Rovers sold in the US until 02 also have the Rover V8.

In 03 the redesign of the Range Rover got the BMW 4.4L V8.

In 05 the LR3 was created, with the 4.4L Jaguar V8.

In 06 the Range Rover got the Jaguar V8.

Your 2004 has an engine designed by Buick in the 1960's. BMW has nothing to do with your engine.

Your not getting it man. The 03 to 05 Range Rovers had the BMW engines and all of the Discoveries (different model than the Range Rover) had the Buick/GM engines.

just to confuse you even more, the seat control switches are BMW, the POS ABS moudlator is WABCO and the engine is a modified Buick Skylark, built by brits under control by indians with plastics from china.
