why do so many people opt for the 2in lifts?
Im debating if i want the 2in lift of 3in lift. But sooooooo many people have the 2in. So im kinda high and dry on looks of a 3in lift. So why the 2in people? When looking at pics of the 2in o cant really see the diff.
i don't remember what all i read to make me decide on 2", but that's what i just ordered. i'm only lifting for a little extra ground clearance. i don't want huge tires, or anything of that nature. i also want as little effect on the drive train as possible. the more you lift, the more effect it has.
Less impact on drivetrain, suspension, brake lines and steering would probably be the greatest benefit I would guess. Probably cheaper. Easier install. You don't need a huge lift to go places.
Just musing...

The two inch lift requires less effort to install.
The more extreme on lift the more drive train stress the more stress the more failure.
In order not to have as much failure you need to upgrade $$$$$$$$$$
Practical plays a big roll the taller you are the bigger the tires the more mpg effect you have.
I think if its a toy that gets trailered then go big but if not stay somewhat practical.

you can go 3" with 32's but even the 1/2" you would get from 33's will start to give you binding and you will have to correct castor to get the wheelbase back to normal. the 2" lifts are just more readily available which is why I think more people opt for them.
Because you have a Disco II, they've been sitting from anywhere between 8-13 years. A 2" lift is actually always more than a 2" lift, your springs are probably sagging at this age. Like others have said, 2" is safe and doesn't require any other modifications(short of extended bump stops).
I have OME Heavy Duty springs on mine along with 265-75/16 tires and the highest point of the vehicle is 78 1/2 inches. With an ARB bumper and winch, it sits about 2 inches higher than stock. I can get it into my garage (barely) which is under the house and it can still fit into most parking garages. Any higher and it would be a problem. If you may need to use a parking garage, this is something to consider.
I was only asking i love my D2 and love it stock its a awesome rig and easy on the eyes. Im only saying this b/c my last trucks have been in this order 84 Full size blazer 12 in of lift...95 chevy 1500 Z71 6in of lift and 88 Bronco 6in of lift so its a lil strange to me to see such "low" numbers in size is all. But im gonna get the 2in with some 32s and be a happy camper. Thanks for the input guys
