Why not go with the 3" OME? (vs 2")
New suspension is not too far off in my future, and I'm wondering why I wouldn't go ahead and do a 3" OME lift? I know I'd have to do longer brake lines (maybe not, actually, but to be safe)...but what are the other drawbacks?
Same price...more lift...more articulation...more capability! Seems like a no brainer?
My goal is to run hard(ish) trails...thinking 265/75r16 tires.

Any gain in articulation will be lost once you put big tires under the truck.
The higher you go the higher your center of gravity and the more likely hood of roll over.
Now add in that you will need to carry a step ladder to get into and out of the truck and drive thru's will be a no go.
I would not do it but then again I'm all of 5'5" and getting shorter every year.

hah, human height. hadn't thought of that one. but i'm 6'5", so not a concern.
roll over seems like a minor concern.
and, sure, if i fill the wells with bigger tires then i lose some of the articulation i gained... but nonetheless, at equivalent tire size the 3" lift gives more articulation than the 2".
still seems like a no brainer.

3" with larger tires and you need to start thinking about low overhangs like parking garages your own garage, car washes, etc. plus your center of gravity is getting up there. how big are the rocks and ruts you are looking to climb over? or are you just looking for looks and having a rover way up high in the air?

Now someone correct me if I'm wrong, as I dont have an OME lift (GASP!), but to get 3" you would have to go with the HD springs, which are way stiff. I've read alot of people who run them on otherwise stock vehicles(no winch, aftermarket bumpers, etc) and say they ride very rough.
I believe RTE lifts can get you 2" or 3" lift with the same spring rate
