Default Why you bought your DII

Everyone has a different reason, some more unique than others so I thought I'd ask.

For us, my wife has a stigmatism in her eye and cannot see well driving at night. Apparently, the combination of sitting higher up than oncoming headlights AND a more vertical windshield (vs the ever increasing swooped back designs of late) allows her to see just fine. When you factor that in, it really narrows your choices (hummer, some Jeeps, LR, Mercedes G-Wagon). The DII was by far our favorite next to the Merc which we could not afford.

Since then we've found lots of reasons to love & hate the thing, but can't find anything to replace it we'd like better for the money.

1. It’s a beautiful designed SUV.
2. It’s big and you tower over drivers. They don’t make cars like this anymore. Too many hybrid SUVs.
3. I love that my SUV has fold out seats.
4. Wide windshield.
5. You can have a ladder and fold out step.
6. It’s a unique car. And I stand out driving it.

Because I wanted a Land Rover but couldn't afford a real one.

My work truck was rear ended and totaled, so I was looking for a truck under 2k I could buy a ford ranger or something with class and cool looking and came across a clean d2 for $1500. Which was a smoking deal. Now I have a d2 and a p38.

Need a truck that would go where I wanted to go - ended up with my D2 kinda by accident. So far a happy accident, it does what I want really well.

I never had a big thing for Land Rovers, grew up in Jeeps had a CJ-7, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. Didn’t like the Grand Cherokee.

Had no car for a while, and when I needed one I researched SUV’s and liked the Discovery II. Drove it and fell in love with it.

I like having a 4x4 but also like to be comfortable. This truck is way better than the Jeeps in the highway.

Stupidity?

No, truth be told...my wife wanted one. She thought they were cute. How and why we ended up with two is a novel's worth of writing to explain.
