Default Window and door lock.......seriously

Ok after a bad front driveshaft, starting on a basic full service, finding the ball joint issues, water leak, small oil leak...............I came home today and my driver window would not roll up. My pass window reg is already broke and awaiting replacement. I found one of the plastic wheels broke on the passenger side.
On the driver side the window would roll down but not back up. I took off the door panel and inspected everything the best I could but did not see anything wrong with the regulator.
Also found the door lock clip broken where it goes into the door lock lever......

My question is would a bad motor cause the window to go down but not up or a regulator prob I can't see.

Thx in advance, appreciate the help

Rob

Maybe your window switch is bad... unless your regulator is physically jammed and can't move up your would still hear your motor running if it was trying to go up.

Yeah...must have forgot to say but can hear a small whine when I try to put the window up but nothing happens. I can manually extend the regulator to put the window up enough to grab and then pull the window all the way up. As soon as I push the button down the window goes all the way, unless I stop it, but not up.....

Put your window all the way up and check the teeth on your regulator. I had a problem with mine where it would go almost all the way up and then stop even with the window motor running. What happened was the teeth wore off of it and it would stop going when it got to that point. Yours may be going down past the point where the teeth no longer contact the motor gear and it can't go up from this point. Does it work if you put the window halfway down and then try to out it up?

I had the same problem. It ended being the regulator teeth problem. Replacing them is a really easy job.

Thanks for the info. The window will not roll up from halfway or qtr way. Seems like it just won't go up. It's raining now so I will try later. Thx

For what it is worth, I just went through the exact same issue.

Window would go down but not up.

My regulator looked fine but I was told about the teeth on the regulator going bad.

Ordered a new regulator and installed it but the same issue existed, window would go down but not up.

Ordered a used motor from ebay, installed it and everything worked as it should, window up & window down.

I could hear the old motor running when I tried to raise the window but it wouldn't move it at all.

Just wanted to let you know that if the regulator looks good and moves freely, it could be a bad motor even if it works going down.

At least now I have a spare drivers regulator for when it eventually fails.

yeah, reg looks good. I can manually extend / raise the window. As far as i can tell the teeth are good. Will look into a motor. Was looking at a used one from roverlandparts.com did you get a good deal on ebay?
Thx

Hi robdis96,

I paid $35.00 with free shipping about a month ago for the used LH Front Motor.

Seemed to be a good price and it was in perfect shape when I received it.

When my right front window stopped working the motor was the fault too. The gears INSIDE the motor must have stripped. It would only move a few inches and then start grinding. If you helped it along, it would move another little bit and then start grinding again. New motor, and quite a bit of grease on the regulator just in case, and everything works great. I think I got a "proline" motor new from rovers north for like $65.
