Default Windshield

Hi All,
Got a crack in the front windshield on the way to Pismo, it's behind the rear view so I didn't notice until it started to grow. It seems to be creeping in a southwesterly direction, kind oflike a vine only more expensive. Which reminds me, anybody know what I might expect to pay for a new one, and maybe a good place to get it, including installation. I live in Redondo Beach, near LA.
Thanks
Ken

Disco I's run $500 to $600 U.S.D. if you have to replace the window seal.

I just paid about 350 in the DC metro area. With the new seal. I just googled glass replacement and got a ton of places, then called for the cheapest. If your crack is still short enough they might be able to simply repair the crack instead of replace the whole thing.

Is this "seal" not something an auto glass place would not install normally? I got a price from a local shop of $189.00 installed for new front windshield. Now I am wondering if that included this seal. I have a 1994 Disco I.

Oh here's one more thing I learned about disco's make sure whoever installs the windshield opens your door windows at least a crack. I was told if this isn't done when they close the door it will blow a hole in the new sealant if it isn't dry yet. I had one with an air leak that drove me crazy. I found out it was caused by not opening the windows.

I just priced out a new windshield for a D1 and the glass only was $98 including 5.5% tax. The gasket was really expensive if you need it. There may be aftermarket solutions. If the rubber is still good, they should be able to reuse the gasket. As far as slamming the door blowing out the gasket on a new windshield replacement, that applies mainly to glass that uses urethane sealant (almost all vehicles), but your D1 has a rubber gasket just like the old ford trucks.
