Default windshield cowl replacement

i replaced my cracked and broken windshield cowl with the fiberglass replacement that the guy from Malaysia sells. great product, good fit and easy installation.

the new cowl does not have the vented area built in like the factory cowl. it is, instead, solid.

do i need to drill some holes in this to allow for airflow for the HVAC system?

Thanks,

I have the same one, waiting to get some other things sorted out to install it. I'm interested as well. That area isn't sealed up tight but how much airflow does the HVAC really need?

Did you ask the Malaysian manufacturer why they didn't add the holes? Just curious.

he mentions that it is sealed due to the structure of the fiberglass. my guess is that it is much easier, cheaper and stronger to make with out the grate area for air flow.

i haven't really noticed any difference in air flow from my HVAC in the week's worth of driving I've been doing.

Its not that tightly sealed so it should easily pull enough air in....you may want to rig some type of filter over the intake hole.

How is the quality, fit and finish?

I need the two plastic pieces running along the side of the windshield and he also has those. Seems about 1/3 of the price compared to ordering from Atlantic British.

Did you paint yours or install it the way it came?
