Default Windshield/A-Pillar Cover Help

Hello,

I recently had my windshield replaced on my 04 Disco. It appears, as you can see in the pictures, that they did not attach the A-Pillar cover to the clips that are underneath it.

So it currently does not touch the glass at all, and is at least a good centimeter off of the glass which I think is causing a little noise.

Is this something that I can re-attach better myself, and would it be better just to have the glass company come out again?

Thanks for the help.

You need to remove the 3 rivets on the inside portion of thecover, then you can reattach it. 2 caveats:
1 -- the rivets get pushed in, and will need to be replaced.

2 -- if you leave it that way, it will fly off.

Happened to me this week, and I just ordered a new cover. Had to go to the dealer, local junk uards don't have any disco's

Thanks for the reply.....Where can the 3 rivets be purchased? I assume just at the dealership?

Glad I could finally help someone instead of being the one asking the questions. You could go to LR direct, but they would probably mark up that .95 to $10!!!LOL

Or you can cheat,

Drill a very small hole in the centre pin of the rivets, then screw in a tiny self tapping screw, then yank on the screw with a pair of needle nose pliers, you can then re-use the old ones then

I think he is talking about the metal clips that are underneath the plastic cowling. I'm not sure where you can get those from. You should have a seal under the plastic also that sometimes gets "lost" when a windshield is replaced. If the seals are gone you will have a lot of noise. My temporary fix at the moment is silicone caulk, it is the quietest my truck has been.

had the same issue... I called the glass company back... they still F'ed it up the second time.... I guess third time is a charm?

Also, the bottom rubber edge isn't tight up against the glass like it used to be previously... I will need to have them look at that too...
