Default windshield replacement non heated

So, bad luck for me lately. Windshield broke this morning. Heated is roughly $1200.00 for replacement and non heated it roughly $500.00 for replacement. That is tax, labor everything in. Being that this is a Land Rover, i'm a littled worried that if I install the non heated, i'll get some error message or check engine light coming on. Anyone have experience with this?
My heated window didn't work anyway, i've never used it and I will not miss it....but wil the non heated work fine without error codes etc?
Thanks for any hlep.

Not sure where you are getting your prices but they are way high.
In Denver I can buy a heated glass for around $500 if I shop it, $250 for a non heated, plus the install.

I just had a Kia minivan windscreen - heated - replaced for $235, and it is a big honkin' curved windshield.

Yeah but I live in Canada and we have free health care...LOL but in regards to the window, installing the non heated won't screw with my trucks fragile electrical system?
Also I'm not too far off. D-Mike you said $250 plus install. i'm paying $500, install, moulding, tax all included.

Hi there,
To answer your question, you can install either heated or non-heated with no issues. You may want to check with your insurance company. I know that here in South Carolina, insurance providers have to provide glass coverage with no deductible. Of course our rates are sky high too.

I live in Alberta and I got quoted at 500 for the heated windshield including mouldings and labour. I'd shop around. Think it was 400 for the non heated. Speedy Auto glass is where I got the info.

I have glass coverage, zero out of my pocket for any new glass that is broken.

And no, your truck will not know the difference between windshields, you will just leave the non heated glass unplugged.

Thanks for the info on the non heated window. I've ordered it and will have it installed today.

Does the molding create the seal? I've been quoted $135 - $300 for the molding alone.

Default windshield

As far as Canada goes, that doesn't sound too far off. I seem to remember the moulding had to be ordered from the local LR dealer to do mine. It was included in the price on my job though so I did not see any higher charges.
