Default wiper failure!!!!

this is the problem. I put the D1 wiper arms on my 01 disco to be able to use regular wiper blades. Everything was great until today. in the middle of the rain my wipers stopped working. They are in the stop position and they 'twitch', they will move maybe a quarter of an inch. even with the wiper switch in the off position they still 'twitch' I replaced the wiper arm on the steering column less then 1 year ago. I'm thinking it maybe the switch, but I'm really not sure. I tightened down the bolts holding on the arms and it didnt help, any suggestions?

Here is what you do. Return original arm to D2 , then remove plastic on the end of it and use any regular wiper blade. This is look on my 2001 D2 modification.

I disagree, the D1 wiper are are built with more down force for better contact with the glass, stay with them and use the new generation wipers from Bosch or any of the others on the market.

take the D1 wiper arms off for now and turn your wipers on. if the bolt still twitches than you know its the wiper arm assembly if it rotates normally then the armes were not torqued properly and if both don't move at all your motor is bad.

Thank you all for your help. I do like the D1 wiper arms better and they have been painted to match the exterior color of the truck so I will be sticking with them. I have already switched to the new generation rain x wipers but i wouldnt reccomend them. I think next time i will go with the bosch ones. Im possitive the wiper arms are on tight as i checked them when they stopped working. The fact that they twitch when the switch is off is what is boggling me. Im going to try to take them apart tomorrow and see what the problem is. I was kinda hoping someone else has had the same problem and would no exactly what is wrong to be able to save me the time and effort of taking it apart.
