Default Wiper Switch

I been having a lot of problems with my wipers going on and off. I checked the fuse, and it's ok ; also the motor appears to be working fine. I just purchased the right arm on the steering wheel, the wiper switch. I will change it next week. What kind of tools do I need to take everything apart? Any suggestions? When taking the air bag out, any thing I should look for?
I will also buy my first set of tools? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have you used a test probe to see if you are getting any power to the wiper motor? Do that first.

Before you remove the airbag disconnect the battery and let the trk sit for one hour. The airbag module can hold power for up to one hour and if the airbag goes off it can kill you.
Make sure that you have your radio code.

Another of the issues is that, the wipers work only in position II not on I or III.
I will check that tomorrow...
Were in the wiper motor?
Just get a normal pen test probe?
thanks Mike.

Radio Code? Where do I get that?
Thanks Spike
Any repuatable dealer can give it to you with your vin number, if you radio is original, it should match. I had to do this for mine. Get connected to the service Department and they can help you. After you get the code, write it in your owners manual, if you dont have one, on a piece of tape then stick it somewhere safe. Dont put on your radio, defeats the purpose of the theft device. Top of glove box is where i have mine.

Reference windshield wipers.

Mike: Have you used a test probe to see if you are getting any power to the wiper motor? Do that first.

Finally I have a day off tomorrow and I will be hands on fixing that problem.
To check the motor. do I disasssemble everything to get to the motor, or there is an easier way to check the windshield motor?
Also were do I place the contacts of the test probe?
Basically how to I check if the motor is the problem?

Thanks
Luis

NO, I have it to the side until I verify the motor.

I just want to check the motor, just in case that is the problem.

I guessed it was the switch but I not sure.

Thanks for your help, I really like this Land Rover brotherhood.

I am betting that it is the switch. Take your test light and find the wiper motor. Unplug it. Turn the wipers to their fastest speed and stick one end of the probe into the plug, then the other side. Does it light up? If so you have power to the wiper motor.
As for testing the motor itself, not sure how you would do that.
