We purchased a 2002 Land Rover Discovery II this year. I just discovered a couple of wires hanging below the glove box. Does anyone have any clue what these may go to, or if they should be plugged in? I'm just learning about these vehicles and can't find anything online.
Hi and welcome to the forums! I'm not exactly sure about the answer to your question so hopefully someone can chime in with something specific but it might be the glove box light or switch- one of those wires is red and the other is red with a black tracer. If you want to check you can open your glove box and see if the light is in there or turns on. The headlights have to be on in order for the glove box light to turn on.
At any rate, I see this is your first post (kudos for including a picture) but the very next thing you should do is go here and download everything, this guy has all of the technical literature for the disco 2 shared on his google drive- the RAVE, wiring diagrams, owners manual, the works: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/f...13&direction=a
Thank you so much. I didn't even realize there was a light in the glove box. It doesn't work so I guarantee you are on to something. These attachments with info on the Discovery II are so helpful. Thank you so much.
Looks like greisinb has won today's internet. The D2 Electrical Library says that the glovebox light supply wires are black and black/red, going either to connectors C0222 and C0238 (switch) or C0227 and C0235 (bulb).
The connectors are actually single-wire affairs, so part of what you're looking at there should be in the bulb housing or the switch.
