Car died on my son after driving to lunch a week ago. Would not start the rest of the day. Next day at noon it fired up but not with all cylinders. Had it towed home. Let is sit for a week, didn't have time. Fired it up on a Saturday 8AM, all good. Fired it up at noon and drove around, all good. Evening back to no starting. Temps down her are in the high 80's now.
Start with Crank Sensor or Fuel Pump?
Local auto parts store states $650 for fuel pump.

Honestly I'm going through the same thing up here in Smyrna with "Myrtle" but I ended up with the flashing M & S and in limp mode. Limped it all the way to the Bear Valley Service mechanic in Roswell, GA. They put Myrtle on AutoLogic and couldn't find any fault codes. They thought it was the crankshaft position sensor going bad but I changed mine a couple of months ago. They wanted to keep it and do more diagnostic checks but I had to drive it back to work.
And of course I had zero problems driving from Roswell back to Smyrna. Go Figure...

The next time that it doesn't want to start, spray starter fluid past the air filter.
If it starts briefly, then dies, that tells you one thing (bad fuel pump).
If it still doesn't start with the starter fluid, that tells you another thing: probable crank position sensor.
THEN...go to a sponsor or Rock Auto and buy the cheapest of whichever part that you need. Maybe $60, not $650, for a new fuel pump. Similar price for a crank position sensor.
You'll be driving carefree in no time!
