Default Won't start and when it will dies.

Ok, so tried to start and it hesitates but starts on about 3rd try. Then it dies and I get check engine light. Autozone is down the street so I get codes read they give me P1300 (I don't see this code online anwhere for rovers) and P0300 multiple engine misfires (or something like that). I doubt I have misfires, plugs and wires were done when head gaskets were about a year ago. So I'm reading and I figure it might be bad crank sensor? If so why misfire codes? The "gentleman" at autozone said there was a code for every cylinder but wouldn't give me the numbers (a$$).

So yeah any ideas?

AK rover i believe also recommended a Crank Sensor, Another senior member on here...I believe spike555 Thought i was in need of a really good tune up or it was the fuel temperature sensor.

Take a look at some of there answers,

Just because you had a tune up a year ago does not mean squat.
What brand of plug wires did they use? Cheap ones and you will be lucky if they last a year.
I went though 4 sets of plug wires in 12 months on my truck.
If the codes say mis fires then you have mis fires.
When the crank sensor goes bad the truck just wont run at all, not at idle, not at 5,000 RPM, just wont run.
As for the fuel temp sensor, no, not on a DII.
DI's and DII's are TWO very different animals, even though they have the same engine they have different engine managment systems thus different probelms and solutions to those problems.

Magnecors and bosch plugs. It was not cheap ones and the truck is almost to the point that it won't run at all, but just barely started it an hour ago long enough to pull into garage. Still not crank sensor? The truck does not run rough and no signs of misfire except the code.

Ok, that info helps.
It is probabaly your crank sesnor then.
Those plug wires will last almost forever.
The crank sensor controls your spark, typically when they start to go bad the truck will not run when hot, let it cool off 20 min and it will run fine.
The crank sesnor is faily cheap and you can change it yourself if you are half way mechanical.
$70 or so at AutoZone.

Yeah, it didn't run when hot. When I let it sit it seems to start. What is the best way to get to it, from under the truck? I am not sure that I see it from above. I had autozone order one (just in case) should be in the store at noon tomorrow.

Ok, so I am underneath. But how in the world do you get the cover off? It looks so simple but I can't get it. Any tips?

Chance are real good that it is NOT your crank sensor. Very little grey area when it comes to that sensor, stalls, hard to start, but when it does it will run fine. You have another issue. What are your current codes.
As per Spike, a tune up a year ago means nothing, start pulling one plug at a time and see what they look like.
