Smile Wooo! I changed my rear rotors and brake pads on my 01 DII!!

I know changing brakes / pads is not rocket science but it was my first try and I was very successful!

Followed the instructions here: http://www.mavromatic.com/2007/03/di...-discovery-ii/

I don't think the instructional is on LandRoverForums.com but it should be!

Can we sticky and give credit? Would be nice to add to the DII "how to" section.

Woo!

That's a good write-up, but here's the altercation with reality that I recently had:

I also had to drill out the screws, and these are $5 each at the local dealer. I simply replaced my wheels without the screws.

It's probably a good time to also replace the calipers:

The brake housing bolts were frozen, which meant the pads were not sliding on the bracket, so only half the breaking power. I ordered 2 pairs of new calipers and brackets at about $65 each, and used a dremel saw to hack apart the caliper. (However, I got my full core deposit back on these trashed calipers brackets.)

The caliper mounting bolts were also frozen, but these can be drilled out after removing the calipers.

Also bleed the brakes.

I also replaced the SLS air bags with coil springs.
