We purchased a 2023 discovery sport with 2nd row temperature controls. It has buttons with 3 levels each of either Hot or Cold.

Unfortunately pushing those buttons doesn’t actually change the temperature coming out of the 2nd row vents. My dealer has it now and basically confirmed they can’t really notice a difference either and they have another vehicle that also has those buttons and it’s the same. Essentially it seems like we paid extra to have pretty blue or red lights in the 2nd seat my kids can touch.

Does anyone know how this SHOULD function? Does it really make such a minuscule difference that you can’t notice it at all even after leaving it like that for 10+ minutes?

an additional - when you change the temperature in the front it instantly changes the temperature for the 2nd row vents which leads to further speculation the buttons do nothing. Sync is turned off and there is no lock on preventing from changing the hot or cold settings from the 2nd row and also doing so from the touchscreen does not change the temp.

does anyone have any ideas or experience with how this should actually function before the dealership just tells me that’s how it works?

 

Did you check in your infotainment menu (under climate control) whether the "rear controls/rear climate control" is turned on?

 

I think the buttons are for the heated and cooled seats.
