Discovery Sport HSE Starting Problem
I recently purchased a CPO Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE. (2.0L I4 F DOHC 16V) The vehicle has about 23,000 miles on it.
About one week after we took delivery we went out into a cold snowy morning and the vehicle would not start. When the ignition switch is pressed, the dash lights up but the engine never even attempts to turn over. Jumping the vehicle from a number of sources didn't change the behavior. We called Land Rover Roadside service, who dispatched a flatbed and took it to the local dealership.
The vehicle has been at the dealership for three weeks. The dealership is epically bad a communicating. What I've learned is that every time they think they have it fixed, it sits overnight and the problem resurfaces. I've had three land rover dealerships tell me they've never heard of such a problem.
Does anyone have any guidance for me?

The vehicle has been in the hands of the dealership for over a month. I got an email from the General Manager late last week that was essentially throwing in the towel. They've tried everything they can think to try and haven't solved the problem. The last update where they were still working on the problem was that they were removing the rear bumper and quarter panels to inspect the wiring harness. The theory was that a mouse had chewed into a wire somewhere in the harness.
At this point, we are working on returning the vehicle to the dealership from which we purchased it. This is more than a little disappointing. I owned an LR2 back in the day and loved it. For the week that we drove the Discovery, it was a lot of fun.
I'm gobsmacked that this Discovery has a defect that has eluded factory-qualified technicians for over a month. I don't assume they worked 8x5 on the problem, but I do think the dealership's best had a solid run at fixing the problem and failed..
