Exorbitant Cost for Repair to AC/heating system
I own a 2017 Discovery Sport which I have generally enjoyed except for the local dealer - I've had a horrible time with service. When the turbo assembly needed to be replaced in early 2023, the first attempt failed so they repaired it again and returned the car with the engine light still on. They finally discovered that they had missed a hose and after the third repair and inspection (involving a smoke test?) they returned the car repaired but, the middle and lower vents in the AC/heating system weren't getting any air. Reluctantly, I took the car in for evaluation. Naturally, the dealer claimed no accountability for the fact that the vents weren't working after then had tested the turbo and told me it would cost $5000 to remove the dash to replace one fan that costs $167. Of course they said they would replace the other four that still work. After I blew my top, they magically reduced the repair price to $3200. Questions:
- Is it possible they damaged the AC/Heating fan while testing the Turbo with a "smoke test"?
- How can it cost $3000+ to replace one small fan - that seems like the mother of all stupid design flaws.
Any insights would be appreciated.

1) I don't think it's possible to damage the fan from smoke particles but someone better than me should chime in
2) By using the Dealer. That's what they do. Horrific rips offs with shoddy to mediocre service at best. The sales mangers sets the qouta expected. They give customers high price and see if they ask for less. They want you to trade in your LR for a new model. This way you continue making payments. If you paid cash for it all the better they destroy it sooner and get you in a new model quicker. It goes to everyone's profit reports which is what their salaries are based on.
They've been ruining Land Rovers since at least the 1980s Nothing has changed. They just want your money.
