2000 TD4 Freelander Fuel Filter Replacement
Hi all,
Can anyone help me? I ran my 2000 Freelander very low on fuel. It has since had an occasional problem starting when run for a while if you lleave it seemed to clear itself of the problem adfter about 45-60 minutes and would start. However it would not start the other day resulting in an embarrasing lift home on the back of a wagon. The recovery driver said it was proberbly a blocked fuel filter so i have bought one but when comming to installation it has a plastic cover around it and I cannot see how to remove it. Any suggestions? It is the filter on the inside nearside wing.
Thanks in advance Darrell

RE: 2000 TD4 Freelander Fuel Filter Replacement
Hi Darrell.
The best is to remove the whole housing. If you look between the filter and the pump, you will see a Philips screw.Remove it.Unclip the sensor and fuelpump wires, and the one dieselpipe.Lift the complete housing upwards and it will unclip from the fender.Next loosen the hoseclamp under the pump and pull of the pipe. There is a hole in the plastic casingunder the filter.Stick something in there and push or knock the filter out.
