Default Cam Plug blew out 2003 Freelander

On my 2003 Freelander an oil plug on the right back side of the engine blew out I believe the part number is LUC100150L. On Ebay it is called a crankshaft oil seal but it is a plug I did put it back in added oil and it hasn't come back out yet. My question is has this happened to anyone and what might have caused this to happen. My Freelander just turned 90,000 miles and the outside temp when this happened was 1 below zero. Thank you.

I have never had one come off on its own, but those plugs are removed and replaced as part of a timing belt job. They're just friction fit so if they were old I could see one falling out. Maybe bang on the other one a few times to make sure it is firmly seated.
You should be good for awhile with a new one. The timing belt interval for this car is 6 years/72k miles so you should be good for at least that long.
