Smile Condensation - especially in the rain

I'm hoping you can give me advice regarding my 2004 Freelander. It mists up very easily, especially when it's raining and no matter what I try it the windows will not clear. I have thought about using side window deflectors so I can crack the windows slightly. I have had the air conditioning re-gased but think I will have it checked again. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Do you have a sunroof fitted? If so, these are notorious for allowing vast amounts of water ingress, especially as they get older. If you do have one, get it revealed, or, sealed up entirely before it jams in the open position and you discover the mechanism has swollen due to the excess rust. (Oh yes!) The load space door is also a good place for pulling in the water - open the sub-floor store for the wheel jack kit - is it a personal water spa? Or at least is the material sodden? If you have a physical pooling of water, have some 5mm holes drilled to allow at least natural dispersal of the water. Once you have a condensation problem, it truly is matter of finding the sources of ingress. If you have one, put in a domestic dehumidifier with all the windows shut, and on a sunny day to cause that lovely steamy heat inside, and let the dehumidifier do its job wonderfully. Be prepared for shocking amounts of water emptying too. It’s cheaper to do it this way than run the aircon and heating. Once you have dried out as much as possible, invest in some serious silica gel drain bags that have hanging hooks supplied and a large 1-2 Ltr, collection bag. Hang them in the passenger sections on the garment hook, and be surprised for yet more water, but eventually, it does get better and the outrageous steaming up will diminish… I no longer have that LRF that suffered from this, but I did consider turning it into a water feature at one point !

Yes, run that air conditioner all the time. well, perhaps not when its -20C.
I keep the air flowing over the floor and windscreens.
And I rarely use the air recirculate feature.
