Default COOLANT/HEATER CORE UNIT

I have had coolant problems with my 2002 freelander for at least 6 months straight. the LR dealership cannot figure out why I must add water/coolant to the resevior every other day. They first installed a new heater core unit, then new tubes, then a new resevoir...they said all were cracked and leaking fluid. 2 months later I got another heater core unit cuz the 2nd was leaking!! so I am on my 3rd....luckily under warrenty - they are about $800. It is in the shop again with the same problem after they installed the 3rd heater core unit! they are very confused and don't seem to know what is going on. On the upside...the vehicle actually runs fine I just have to add the coolant every other day....PLEASE HELP!!!

Default RE: COOLANT/HEATER CORE UNIT

hey thanks for your quick reply
as it turns out my now 3rd heater core unit is cracked after 2 months!!
My LR dealership is in communication with LR headquarters (?) trying to get me a new LR engine for free (or whatever they will offer)....what is bad is that I am not under warrenty anymore (now at 67,000 miles) but I have had all my 12,000 mile check ups which is in my favor...I also heard a rumor that this coolant/heater core problem happens between 60-70K miles on most freelanders - which they adding to the list of grievances...I suppose if not caught quickly you will need a new engine....I think LR should recall all engines - ha ha ha....they've had my LR since 8/10 I have a LR loaner and I fear the outcome of this problem
I have NEVER had so many problems with a vehicle....even my college 1988 Ford Tempo was in better shape!!

Here's a video on how to renew the heater core in the Freelander 1.
It's not at all as hard as it may sound, just need time and patience.
